The Child Saints of Fatima

A hundred decades back, in Fatima, Portugal, two kids were believed to have received the first of many visions of the Virgin Mary while they were tending their family’s sheep. The kids, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, died young, victims of the influenza epidemic that was Europe, but their town became a gathering place for countless pilgrims. On Saturday, both were canonized by Pope Francis in a large outdoor mass in Fatima, getting the most youthful saints in background.

Review: ‘All Saints’ Narrative of community

The bread and butter of the faith-based film genre is real-life stories, usually involving miracle healings or visions of Jesus himself, and frequently times equally (“Miracles From Heaven,” “90 Minutes in Heaven”). However, the filmmakers of projects have been expanding their purview, in telling stories that typically portray a modern, cosmopolitan representation of Christianity, and in terms of genre. The story behind “All Saints,” written by Steve Armour and directed by Steve Gomer, manages to encompass each of the aforementioned. The line between fiction and nonfiction is intentionally blurred in “All Saints,” which tells the true story of a Tennessee church bolstered by unlikely saviors.
